Shaoli S. Katana
Shaoli Katana joined Delaney McKinney in November 2018. Prior to joining the firm, Shaoli served as the Managing Attorney for the House of Ruth’s Domestic Violence Legal Clinic for six years, practicing in a variety of jurisdictions throughout Maryland as well as successfully arguing a case at the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. She also coordinated advocacy and outreach efforts throughout Maryland, including legislative reform, local trainings, and technical assistance. Following her tenure at the House of Ruth, Shaoli entered private practice at a family law firm in Howard County, Maryland. Through these experiences, Shaoli has successfully represented a wide range of clients in complex, high-conflict family law matters.
During law school, Shaoli spent time as a law clerk in the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit for the State’s Attorney’s Office in Prince George’s County, where she screened cases and assisted prosecutors in litigating sex crimes and child homicides. She also participated in the Criminal Justice Clinic, where she worked as a Rule 16 Student Attorney for the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office in District Court, litigating and negotiating plea agreements for traffic, theft, assault, and drug cases.
Shaoli takes pride in tailoring her approach to match each client’s needs so that their issues can be resolved in a comprehensive way, whether through negotiation or litigation.
Shaoli is admitted to practice in Maryland. Shaoli is a member of the family law sections of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Bar Association of Montgomery County. She is also a member of the Women’s Bar Association of Montgomery County and of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC).
