Samantha H. Kravitz
Samantha H. Kravitz brings a diversity of experience, both legal and non-legal, to her practice as a family law attorney at Delaney McKinney. A former journalist, Ms. Kravitz utilizes her innate curiosity, keen listening skills, and investigative drive in order to understand her clients’ goals and counsel them towards a successful resolution of their disputes. She prides herself on her professionalism and integrity, and thrives on her ability to build relationships and develop trust with even the most difficult of opposing counsel and parties. Ms. Kravitz is grateful for the opportunity to serve her clients by helping them to understand their rights and obligations under the law as they rebuild and protect their families during difficult and often unpredictable times.
Ms. Kravitz serves her community by volunteering in the DC Family Court’s Self-Help Center and Attorney Negotiator programs, and she also serves as pro bono counsel in family law matters in Washington, DC and Maryland.
Prior to joining the firm in 2010, Ms. Kravitz served as a law clerk for the Honorable Lynne A. Battaglia on the Court of Appeals of Maryland. Before her clerkship, she was an associate at a large law firm in Washington, DC.
While in law school, Ms. Kravitz served as Editor in Chief of the University of Maryland Law Journal of Race, Religion, Gender and Class. She interned for the Honorable Michael J. Algeo on the Circuit Court for Montgomery County and served as a student lawyer at the National Association of the Deaf for which she received an Arc of Baltimore Award for Service. Ms. Kravitz also received the William P. Cunningham Award for exceptional achievement and service to the University of Maryland School of Law. Prior to pursuing her law degree, she worked in television news in Washington, DC, at CBS News and the local CBS affiliate, WUSA.
Ms. Kravitz currently serves as an At-Large member of the Judicial Appointments Committee of the Maryland State Bar Association (MSBA). She is also actively involved in the Bar Association of Montgomery County where she previously served as Co-Chair of the Family Law Section for which she was awarded the Section Chair of the Year Award in 2012. She has also served as Co-Chair of the Mentor/Mentee Committee. In addition, she is a member of the family law sections of the Maryland State Bar Association and DC Bar, as well as the Women’s Bar Association of Maryland (Montgomery County Chapter), and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (Maryland Chapter). She has previously been a member of the Montgomery County Inns of Court. She has been listed as a “Rising Star” in both Maryland and Washington, DC Super Lawyers magazine.
When Ms. Kravitz is not helping clients, she especially enjoys singing and tap dancing in the annual Montgomery County Bar Revue.
