How We Work

Astute Compassion. Creative Solutions. Results.

At Delaney McKinney, we love what we do. A team of passionate and dedicated attorneys located in Chevy Chase, Maryland, we are fortunate to work with all kinds of people and assist them in transitioning through difficult and challenging times. We find our work intellectually stimulating, challenging and emotionally rewarding. There is no such thing as a “typical” domestic dispute. Like families, every case is different and we dedicate ourselves to seeing each and every one of them through. We understand that when marital separation and divorce happens, it is almost always a time of distress. We approach each divorce case with a deep understanding of the fundamental impact separation and divorce has on each family member — as well as his or her future.

Delaney MckinneyYour Story, Your Resolution.

Whatever your situation — divorce, separation, child custody dispute — we believe you have an important story to tell, one that will inform your legal objectives. Our job is to understand that story, then assist you in defining and achieving your goals. Working as a team, we ensure that all bases are covered. This includes making sure that you receive the individual attention, knowledgeable guidance and experienced legal representation your case deserves.

We approach all legal problems by first trying to resolve them amicably — be it through settlement or alternative dispute resolution — to avoid going through the time-consuming, stressful and expensive process of litigation. But should your case require litigation, we have the depth of experience and skill necessary to advocate for you every step of the way.

Moving Forward, Moving On.

Delaney McKinney puts children first. This is our mission. We understand how separation and divorce can negatively impact children and do everything in our power to protect them from that negative impact. We know from the social science literature that a child’s exposure to his or her parents fighting during the separation or divorce is the surest way to inflict real and long-lasting damage on the child. We will work with you to protect your children and promote a healthy adjustment to his or her new family structure.

We also realize that your economic future is at stake. We consider both your immediate needs and long term goals, and will help you look forward to determine how to best protect your financial security.
